Ndigbo  find their home in the rich and fertile crescent created by the lower Niger River mostly within the South-East and parts of South-West and South- South geo-political zones of Nigeria. 

Nnamdi AzikiwePC (16 November 1904 – 11 May 1996), usually referred to as "Zik", was a Nigerian statesman who was Governor General of Nigeria from 1960 to 1963 and the first President of Nigeria from 1963 to 1966 (when Nigeria became a republic).

Michael Iheonukara Okpara (25 December 1920 – 17 December 1984) was a Nigerian politician and Premier of Eastern Nigeria during the First Republic, from 1959 to 1966.

Sir Francis Akanu Ibiam (Akanu Ibiam) was born November 29, 1906 in Unwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State. He rose steadily in his professional and personal life to become the first Governor of the Eastern Region in Nigeria.
